Tanot Mata Temple

Have you ever seen Bollywood movie 'Border' made by J.P. Dutta? The temple shown in that movie was this temple. If you have planned to go to Jaisalmer than make a schedule to visit this temple. The best time to visit this place is from October to February. It is said that Pakistan dropped many bombs over this temple during battle of Longewala in 1965. None of the bombs dropped by Pakistani Army explode and now there is a museum showing the unexploded bombs.

Tanot Mata Temple is about 100 kms. from Jaisalmer. So if you have your own vehicle or a private taxi than it may not take more than 2 hrs to reach there. Whole route is full of large sand dunes and very less population and this completely depicts 'The Thar Desert'.
Indo-Pak border is also near to this temple. So if you interested in visiting international border than you have to take permission from the BSF personnel's. Carry your ID proof with you.

Karni Mata Temple - The Rat Temple

I stayed in Bikaner for almost 10 years. During my stay I come to know about Karni Mata Temple. I decided to visit this place. It is situated in village name Deshnoke which is nearly 35kms.from Bikaner. This place can be easily approached as it is well connected by road and railway lines. The first thing that you will notice strange about Karni Mata Temple is that this temple is totally surrounded by thousands of Rats.

People from almost all over the world come at this place to see and take blessings of the Goddess .This strange and totally unique temple is known for a white Rat which is know as blessings of Goddess herself. Karni Mata Temple is open for whole year but main visitors come in Navratras which is a period of 9 days.


 
 

Karni Mata Temple was build by Ganga Singh, ruler of bikaner, is a symbole of fine craftsmanship having domes of silver and gold. The royal family always came to this place before going to any important work.

So next time when you decide to make a tour, and are going towards bikaner don't forget to visit The Rat Temple. It will be a surely new experience for you all. Also there are some more temples in the same village. So if you have time than do visit those temples also.

Simple Tips While Driving

While posting my last blog Travel Tips I decided to write something about Simple traveling Do’s and Don’ts. This is an extension to that blog.

· Drive slowly in rain, rough roads, sharp turns, in traffic, near schools, hospitals etc.

· Always wear your seat belt properly. Most of the causalities in car accident’s are due to head injuries. This can be easily avoided by wearing seat belts. Also it avoids you from traffic challan .J

· Before going on a tour check performance of your car. Regular checking of car’s tires, breaks, oil etc. can save you from mishaps. Mostly every driver knows basic functionality of car performance.

· Always follow traffic rules. If you are following rules properly than chances of mishap are very rare.

· Speed thrills but kills. No need to explain further.

· Lights of vehicle should be in running condition. As most of the signals can be done using headlights and taillights.

·  Always concentrate while driving and focus on road. Accidents mainly happen due to lost of concentration. Don’t use phone while driving. If it is urgent than park your vehicle properly and than make calls. If you make calls mostly while driving than you can use a Bluetooth .;)

· Don’t take alcohol while driving at-least. Also never drive under the influence of drugs or while feeling sleepy.

· Never overtake from wrong side even if its looking clear to you. Also while overtaking pass proper signals to other vehicles before overtaking.

Travel Tips

While traveling  one should always follow some simple rule or we can say traveling tips to make journey a pleasant experience and prevent travel from becoming a tragedy. A tour become tragedy when we do not prepare properly before going on a trip.

I have made a simple list of Travel Tips which I generally follow and also want suggest others. Give your suggestions or tips to improve this article further....

• On a busy scheduled trip lack of sleep and unhealthy diet can make you sick. so it is advised to take a proper sleep of at-least 6 hours daily and also take care of eating habits.
• Keep less cash as much possible and stay more dependent on credit and debit cards. Nowadays cards are accepted everywhere so no need to carry lots of cash and risk your life.
• Don’t drink alcohol while driving as alcohol have effect on nervous system which reduces decision making power.
• If going on a preplanned trip, you should make advance arrangements of stay and inquiry about other important aspects like weather, food, places to visit etc..
• If you are staying in a hotel make sure that your near and dear-ones know about that hotel.
• Park your vehicle only in a parking area and take receipt of that.
• Never discuss or tell your travel plan in public.
• Keep your important documents in a separate beg and always keep it close to you.
• Prefer packed food while on travel. Don’t take anything from strangers.
• If you are going on a trip in your own vehicle make sure to consult mechanic.
• Keep first aid box, torch and your contact details while traveling.
